$85,000 Verdict for racial harassment

Our client was an African American engineer hired as a mid-level manager by Corning, Inc. to work in its Martinsburg, West Virginia plant. Our client became the target of racial harassment by hourly employees and was terminated by Corning. We filed suit in the Circuit Court of Berkeley County against Corning for permitting a racially hostile environment and for unlawfully discharging the client. The jury found against the client on the discharge claim, but found Corning liable for the racial harassment and awarded the client damages of $85,000 plus attorney’s fees and costs.

Awarded: $85,000
