$70,000 Settlement for Third Degree Burn to Foot During Wart Removal Procedure

Our client was injured during an attempted removal of a plantar wart from her foot by a physician employed by a community health center in rural West Virginia. The physician’s careless use of liquid nitrogen resulted in a full-thickness burn to one side of the client’s right foot requiring plastic surgery. An administrative claim was presented to the United States Department of Health and Human Services followed by a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. The claim was eventually settled for $70,000.

Awarded: $70,000
