$1,500,000 Settlement for Client Who Lost Leg in an Work Accident

Client was a fifty year old laborer who was hired by an out-of-state subcontractor to work at a local Berkeley County manufacturing plant. Part of the client's job duties involved working on a platform attached to the forks of a forklift and raised 15 feet in the air.  During this work operation, the forklift tipped over and the client's legs were crushed.  The client's left leg eventually had to be amputated above the knee.  OSHA cited the subcontractor for serious safety violations.  Suit was brought against the subcontractor and the owner of the plant where the incident happened. After lenghty pretrial discovery, the case was settled at mediation for $1,500,000.
